Punjab Police Finalizes Security Plan for Christmas Celebrations

Punjab Police have worked out a detailed security plan for the protection of citizens during Christmas and Quaid-e-Azam Day celebrations scheduled on December 25.

According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, more than 30,000 officers will be stationed all over the province. More than 5,000 police will be deployed in Lahore to provide security to the churches by safeguarding persons coming for religious duties during this occasion while an additional 1,000 officers will be performing security duties on the events commemorating the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The increased security will be on high alert to keep away any untoward incidents.

Additional forces have been assigned by the Inspector General (IG) Punjab for deployment at sensitive churches and authorized monitor to take all necessary precautionary measures to mitigate possible future threats, especially to anti-state elements.

Police officials will coordinate with the church admin for smooth arrangements of security concerns.

He further advised the promotion of fellowship among religions and called on religious leaders from all sects to unite toward peace during Christmas.

It is a double-edged sword for the Pakistani people, marking both the birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Christmas as days of public holidays. Quaid Day, otherwise known as Yom-e-Quaid, is when Pakistanis commemorate their leader and visionary, Jinnah, whose contributions to the making of the country saw and heard nationwide ceremonies in events held across the country.

Punjab Police complete plan for security to be able to make celebrations peaceful.
