In November 2024, the Punjab Traffic Police announced the issuance of 841,000 licenses in a month, a momentous improvement in the distribution of licenses in the province.
These numbers comprise over 243,000 learner licenses, 308,000 new licenses, and renewals of up to 284,000 licenses. Additionally, during this time, more than 4,500 international licenses were offered.
To meet the demand, the licensing centers in major cities of the country also operated 24 hours for such services. This was later confirmed by additional IG Traffic that such measures would improve efficiency and accessibility on citizens’ sides.

A separate initiative was taken by the Punjab Traffic Police to dedicate one full day to license issuance for rickshaw drivers. After the Sunday designated tests, fresh driving tests applicable only for rickshaws shall be offered at designated centers every Sunday. This decision was made following a meeting held with the Additional IG of Traffic and the Secretary of Transport.
The report also indicated that Punjab has a record in 2023 for over 10 million driving licenses issued, a phenomenal milestone that was acknowledged by then Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, who lauded Punjab Police and PITB for the same.
