The new salary structure for engineering professionals has been approved by the Saudi Arabia government and shall be effective on December 31, 2024. The Cabinet, under the chairmanship of the Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman, approved this scheme to attract and reward individuals in the engineering field.

The new salary scale has been put in place for government employees occupying engineering positions as defined according to the unified Saudi classification of professions. Such persons must possess a bachelor’s degree in engineering from a Saudi or any other recognized university. The revised scale is representative of professional categories like engineer, associate engineer, professional engineer, and consultant engineer.
The Saudi Minister of Human Resources Ahmed Al Rajhi commended the initiative, stating, “This initiative will boost and empower engineering personnel in the government sector.” The Supplemental Regulations also include provisions for bonusing, promotion standards, and job benefits to enable a more motivating environment.
