Protpeyan Interior Minister and Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi met Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif here on Sunday, ARY News reported.
During his meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi was congratulated by the Prime Minister for taking a principled stance regarding the Champions Trophy. Besides, Mohsin Naqvi told the Prime Minister that PCB has covered all necessary grounds to conduct the Champions Trophy tournament in Pakistan. The Prime Minister said that at the ICC, Chairman PCB has raised the voice of 240 million Pakistanis.

In a significant breakthrough for Champions Trophy 2025, the International Cricket Council has now agreed with the PCB on a hybrid model of global tournaments to be held in Pakistan and India till 2027. As per Cricinfo, under this hybrid model, Pakistan and India will play their matches at ICC events hosted by the other country at a neutral site. Reportedly, this agreement was reached after meetings between ICC chief Jay Shah and PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi in Dubai.
There are three global events under the ICC’s calendar in Pakistan and India between 2024 and 2027: the Champions Trophy hosted in Pakistan in February 2025, the Women’s ODI World Cup in India sometime in 2025; the Men’s T20 World Cup jointly organized by India and Sri Lanka in 2026. Sources said that a Board meeting regarding discussion on the Champions Trophy is scheduled for December 7.
