Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif will go on an official visit to Egypt from the 18th to the 20th of December, during which he will attend the 11th D-8 Summit. The theme for this year’s summit is “Investing in Youth and Supporting SMEs: Shaping Tomorrow’s Economy”.
Emphasis of the Prime Minister
The summit will be another occasion for Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, to press home the message of investing in youth and SMEs as a key means to build a robust and inclusive economy, create employment, drive innovation, and nurture local entrepreneurship. He would also focus on Pakistan’s contributions towards D-8 ideals and the significance with which it attaches to such partnerships for mutual benefits and prosperity.

Special Session on the Humanitarian Crisis
The Prime Minister would also attend a special session on the humanitarian crisis and the reconstruction challenges in Gaza and Lebanon. Here, he would re-emphasize Pakistan’s principled position on Palestine and call for peace in the Middle East. He is expected to have several bilateral meetings with participating leaders during the summit.
Larger Context
Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar will attend the 21st Session of the D-8 Council of Ministers on December 18, before the summit. This is clear evidence that the Prime Minister is committed to empowering youth, financial development, and tackling humanitarian issues.
