Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has asserted the commitment of Pakistan to advance the global movement toward Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and make accessible health care for all citizens.
The PM’s message regarding Universal Health Coverage Day has emphasized this year’s theme, “Health: It’s on the government,” which stresses the essential role of governments in ensuring that necessary health services are available to all people but not forced to make a decision between health care and basic necessities such as food, shelter, or education.
Furthermore, PM Sharif emphasized that the government recognizes morality in providing health services for all income groups. Health compromised means national security, prosperity, and development will also be a compromised area risk can be accorded there, he added.

The Prime Minister spoke of initiatives like the Sehat Sahulat Program, which covers millions of families with health insurance, focusing mainly on the most vulnerable sections of society. The program has been recognized internationally and by the World Health Organization (WHO) for its generality.
The government has also invested heavily in primary health care facilities and services as well as life-saving medications to ensure accessibility, especially in rural and underserved populations, in addition to the Sehat Sahulat Program.
PM Sharif also reiterated the commitment of Pakistan to achieving the health-related SDG targets by 2030. He urged continued partnership with the United Nations and other global leaders toward building health as a universal human right among priorities in their framework.
