“The Sindh Government is currently engaging in talks with huge Chinese player Yutong to set up assembly plant in Karachi on joint-venture basis,” said Sharjeel Inam Memon, Sindh Minister for Information, Transport and Mass Transit. At the 18th Build Asia International Conferences and Exhibition at the Expo Center, he further stated that the project is going to create jobs for skilled workers in the province.
There are also discussions for the launch of an EV cab scheme and importation of an additional 100 buses to address the mobility needs of the province. The Sindh government is aggressively working to energize the economy of the entire province, including mega construction projects in the metropolis to entice foreign investors and overseas Pakistanis.

The government has hosted important delegations from various Chinese countries who are interested in the Dhabajee Special Economic Zone, a part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. According to the minister, “Karachi remains the best location in terms of business within the region,” alluding to the cooperation between provincial and federal governments in providing an enabling business environment and security to foreign investors.
