Thick fog blanketed various cities in Punjab and Sindh on Thursday night, making life miserable and creating serious road traffic disturbances. Numerous stretches of the Motorways were also blocked.
A Motorway Police spokesperson confirmed closures on M2 (Lahore to Kot Momin), M3 (Lahore to Abdul Hakim), M4 (Pindi Bhattian to Abdul Hakim), M5 (Sher Shah to Rohri), and M11 (Lahore to Sialkot). The police asked commuters to use the Grand Trunk (GT) Road instead and advised driving under fog lights and driving carefully. The police have also urged the general public to stay at home and avoid traveling unnecessarily.

Traffic on the national highways across the country has been disrupted because of poor visibility.
All flight operations at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport were suspended as the visibility on the runway came down to as low as 150 meters. The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) advised the passengers to confirm flight schedules before heading to the airport.
In fact, the flight of Saudi Airlines SV738 coming from Jeddah was diverted to Islamabad owing to fog conditions.
