American TikTok‘ influencers are now directing their fans to Instagram and YouTube channel subscriptions after a federal appeals court announced that TikTok could cease operations by January 19 unless sold to a US-based company.
As TikTok nears a 170 million user milestone in the US, this app has become a power axis in digital media and most importantly among young people. The app has attracted advertising and then made strides in commerce with the TikTok Shop to become an avenue for businesses, particularly small ones.

Due to concerns – partly created by the Chinese parentage of TikTok – Congress has enacted a law compelling ByteDance to divest its US business or face a ban. A federal appeals court ruled in favor of this law recently, spurring creators into seriously considering alternative platforms to reach their audiences.
Examples of such influencers include Chris Mowrey and Chris Burkett, who have been calling their followers on other social media platforms. It’s a mix of anxiety and preparation among creators all in the wake of the expected ban.
