US President-elect Donald Trump has once again caused a stir with his call to merge the neighboring Canada with the United States. The statement came following the announcement of Justin Trudeau’s departure from the office as Prime Minister of Canada within the next hours. Trump also emphasized that many Canadians support such an idea of their state’s becoming the 51st himself and that the US, however, is not going to handle massive trade deficits and subsidies for Canada anymore. He said it is because he had already known about it that Trudeau stepped down.
Trudeau was finally induced to resign due to increasing discontent within his own party and extremely low public opinion polling. It was quite doubtful whether he could win against the growing Conservative opposition in the next vote.

Trump said that a union with Canada would bring trade barriers down between the two countries and create a lower fiscal burden for Canadians. He stressed that if Canada merged with the US, tariffs would disappear, taxes would be hugely lowered, and Canadians would have full protection from the harrowing presence of Russian and Chinese ships surrounding them.
Since that time he had been elected in November, Trump had regularly referred to Canada as the “51st state”. He also previously warned to impose a 25% tariff on all Canadian imports unless Canada would do something to reduce both illegal drugs and immigrants across the international border.
