The organization of Turkic States, OTS, convened member states in Tashkent for the 6th Annual Ministerial Meeting of the Turkic Council on media and information. Uzbekistan’s National Agency of Information and Mass Communication hosted the meeting, which brought together ministers and high officials from the Media and Information Department of OTS.
Given the spin-off from the Turkic News Agencies Media Summit of last year, this forum was intended to work on revising the main agenda of the alliance, reviving the action plan, and promoting collaboration over the broadcasting industry while keeping its authenticity and accuracy.
From the day of its establishment, OTS comprising six member states and four observatory bodies has initiated a great range of activities under the Turkic World Vision 2040, covering all areas of economic and trade cooperation, education, sports, transport, tourism promotion, cultural heritage, and mobility in digital technologies.

The media and information sector forms a notable area of cooperation under OTS, which has ministerial meetings, yearly working group meetings, forums, seminars, capacity development training, and experience-sharing activities. The first section of the forum coupled meetings and presentations, supplemented by panel discussions devoted to deliberating all action plans to respond to key issues happening in the media.
These two topics- “The Current State and Future Prospects of Cooperation Among OTS Member States in the Information Sector” and “Combating Disinformation and Fake News in the Era of Global Information,” were the subjects of the forum. The deputy secretary general of OTS, Merey Makazhan, said that “the role of the media in building the future” would see the Turkic world serve as a source of truthful and constructive information towards reaching new horizons.
