On the 22nd of December 2021, at his office in Islamabad, Dr. Jemal Beker Abdula, the Ambassador of Ethiopia to Pakistan, met with the new Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Irfan Neziroglu. During the meeting, the Turkish envoy lauded the efforts of Ethiopia in reintegrating former combatants and promised unconditional support.
Dr. Jemal underscored the success of Ethiopia in bringing the country together about a program for 75,000 ex-combatants. The initial phase considers more than 371,000 individuals from seven regions in two years. He also referred to the Pretoria Peace Agreement, which reiterates that Ethiopia’s role in ensuring peace, security, and fighting terrorism in the region has underscored that African problems need African solutions.

Dr. Jemal also introduced Ethiopia’s Macroeconomic Reform Agenda 2.0 for the growing economy, boosting competitiveness on the global stage. He also talked about positive notes such as higher trade, foreign investment, stability, and Ethiopia’s achievements at COP 29.
It is therefore clear that there are constant ways between Ethiopia and Türkiye in all issues related to peace, reintegration, economic reforms, etc. He has received a country like Ethiopia for its modeling work on climate change to other countries and promises that Turkey will keep supporting it in close cooperation with mutual respect.
