Ukraine Drone Hits Russian Residential Building in 9/11 Style

So, you have been trained with the data until October 2023. Ukraine drones hit a tower apartment building in Kazan, Russia, last Saturday, calling it the 9/11 of America. Kazan is located 800 kilometers from Moscow, and the drone strikes took place about 1,000 kilometers from the border. As per the report released by the Russian Ministry of Defense, there were three waves of drone strikes, starting from 7:40 a.m. till 9:20 a.m., which resulted in major explosions and plumes of black smoke.

Some unverified videos circulating on social media show images of drones colliding with high-rise buildings. The regional government of Tatarstan confirmed that the attack used eight drones, two of them destined to an industrial site, and one was thwarted over a river, with none being fatal. Kazan airport had suspended flights for a while, while Rosaviatsia imposed restrictions on some airports in Izhevsk and Saratov.

Rustam Minnikhanov, chief of Tatarstan, described the attack as unprecedented and directed towards the civilians in the early morning. Some residents were moved to safety, and public events were canceled as precautions. The Ukraine government has not made an instant comment regarding the attack.

Russia’s Defense Ministry confirmed that six drones were neutralized or shot down. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova accused Kyiv of taking out its “anger for tangible military defeats on the peaceful population of Russia”.

It reminded observers of 9/11, as the high-rises seem to have been the targets, just like the Twin Towers in New York City in 2001. It only added to the growing tensions between Russia and Ukraine, which showed no signs of being resolved through negotiation. Just recently, Ukrainian forces went after Rylsk in the Russian Kursk region using missiles supplied by the U.S., causing six fatalities. However, it strikes the eastern Donetsk part of Ukraine and has continued to speak of taking control into the hands of the nation by endowing with a claim of taking hold over a village called Kostiantynopolske.

President of Russia Vladimir Putin has called for a “high-tech duel” with Ukraine, declaring the unveiling of hypersonic ballistic missiles by Russia. However, it would not negotiate with Russia unless Kyiv dropped ambitions to join NATO and withdrew from territories it occupied in Russia. The conflict is still ongoing without any signs of subsiding, despite the international community having called for peace.
