The Bureau of Emigration has instituted a new requirement for acquiring United Arab Emirates (UAE) employment visa applicants must submit a police character certificate.
This is the addition necessary for work in the UAE, as Adnan Paracha, vice-chairman of the Pakistan Overseas Employment Promoters Association (POEPA), explained. According to Express News, the decision was welcomed because it responds to what has been said by the UAE government.
He further explained that such complainants have also been received about some Pakistanis begging and other illegal operations in the UAE. Therefore, he said, it is essential to follow the laws of the destination country, given that both have been brought close and a friendship relationship.

An ‘unannounced’ visit visa ban was earlier imposed on 24 cities in Pakistan by the UAE, which is now extended to 30 cities. Over the same period, these include the thousands of Pakistani applicants who were denied work visas to the UAE, with over 100,000 people failing to work in the foreign country.
With those data, Paracha also states that the UAE is the second largest country after Saudi Arabia in terms of remittances to Pakistan. Therefore, he urges the federal government to go the extra mile in diplomatic efforts to resolve work visa issues.
In this regard, Pakistan has also added 4,300 names to the Exit Control List in a move to curb the increasing begging Pakistani population in Saudi Arabia. Following an interaction between the Minister of Interior, Mohsin Naqvi, and the Deputy Interior Minister of Saudi Arabia, the Saudi ambassador, Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmed Al-Maliki, attended this. The discussions centered on improving bilateral relations, especially regarding paramilitary exchanges and joint training programs.
