X is the type of platform that honors genericities and a whole lot of parody accounts for them types. This often clouds the distinction between real accounts with these types of parodies or fan accounts, since they’re never properly labeled.
However, as reported by an app engineer, the platform is about to create a new label that will solve the issue. This label is coming so users can easily identify these accounts as parody content. If ever X adopts this label and parody accounts use it, both the profile page and their posts will have under their username “parody account” for users to see.

One of the biggest problems for X may be making sure that parody accounts put the label on their profiles. Right now, there’s a caveat in X’s authenticity policy regarding these types of accounts, which drawbacks their impersonation of other profiles that would lead to misleading the users. The policy states:
We allow compliant Parody, Commentary, and Fan (PCF) accounts on X but only if the purpose is to discuss, satirize, or share information.
Thus, if X introduces a new label, it needs to prescribe the rules by which comical accounts implement it. Otherwise, significant numbers of parody accounts will confuse the users. At present, X has a label for automated bot accounts which access its API but there’s no guarantee they would all comply. Many bad actors misuse automated tools to manipulate narratives about elections.
