On Thursday, Chinese President Xi Jinping exchanged pleasantries with Ho Hau Wah and Chui Sai On, two former chief executives of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR). President Xi regards that Macao has made tremendous changes during the thirty-five years since it returned to the motherland. Much has been achieved internationally recognized.

Under Ho and Chui’s leadership, the SAR government and people worked tirelessly to forge a secure and prosperous Macao, thus laying the foundation for long-term development. Xi commended their exceptional contribution to Macao’s sustainable and sound development.
Xi also expressed the expectation that Ho and Chui would contribute as well to the proper governance of the new chief executive and the new term of the Macao SAR government in governing the region according to law for the stable and continued implementation of “one country, two systems.”
Ho and Chui confirmed their commitment to enjoin the future chief executive and the forthcoming term of the Macao SAR government in mobilizing and leading all sectors of society to write a new chapter for the development of Macao.
