Amazon to Invest $11 Billion in Georgia for AI Infrastructure

Amazon, the technology giant from the US, announced on Tuesday that $11 billion would be invested in Georgia to develop the AI infrastructure for its cloud arm, Amazon Web Services (AWS). This is going to create at least 550 new highly skilled jobs.

Demand for cloud infrastructure and processing power has surged because of the requirement for productive AI. AWS will enable the future of AI to flourish within Georgia’s data centers. AWS data centers are built for maximum efficiency in the execution of graphics processing units across both traditional workloads and AI and machine learning models. This makes Georgia a powerhouse in very cutting-edge AI infrastructure.

Since 2010, it has put $18.5 billion into Georgia, something that means the company has been invested in that state because of the jobs it creates. It has been an increasing focus for tech companies in improving their AI infrastructure, with Microsoft earlier this year announcing an $80 billion investment in AI technologies by 2025.
