Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau dismissed Donald Trump’s suggestion of using “economic force” to get Canada as the 51st state of the US. Trudeau’s statement leaves no room for doubt: “There isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that Canada would become part of the United States,” citing the mutually beneficial trading and security partnership.
Trump made clear he wasn’t going to suggest military constraints at Mar-a-Lago but hinted at using economic pressure, as it would make the border more secure since we do not have national borders, and so forth. Also, he has quite harshly commented on a 25 percent tariff that would cover all Canadian goods coming into the US as he criticizes Canada’s surpluses over trade with the United States.

She further argued that these comments from Trump show ignorance on Canada’s capacities and confirmed that Canada would not bow to intimidation. Meanwhile, Trudeau takes to announcing his resignation owing to his party’s poor state of affairs and will be vacating the office shortly. The new leader of the Conservative party, Pierre Poilievre, has also been quite firm in rejecting the idea. “Canada will never be the 51st state. Period. We are a great and independent country,” he stated.
