Malir Expressway Initial Phase Opening Soon, Says Sindh CM

The initial section of the Malir expressway will soon be opened to the public, announced the Sindh Chief Minister. The announcement was made during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah to review the status of the Malir Expressway. Key officials included Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, Special Assistant Qasim Naveed, Karachi Commissioner Hassan Naqvi, Additional IG Karachi Javed Alam Odho, and others.

An officer told the Chief Minister that the first 9 kilometers of the expressway were completed. In reply, Murad Ali Shah said, “I am planning to open the first stretch for public use on January 11 or 12.”

The Chief Minister also ordered the authorities to complete work on the Quaidabad Intersection before the next two months and to widen the Shah Faisal Intersection connecting to Airport Road.
It also comes to light during the meeting that Rs. 100 will be charged for all cars and Rs. 200 will be charged for all buses traveling through the expressway. There will be 18 toll booths, and the stretch will be monitored via 7 to 8 police patrol vehicles. Automated toll collection systems and constant patrolling, for the Chief Minister, would keep the systems running smoothly.

Malir Expressway goes under the territories of five different police stations. The Chief Minister asked these police stations to guarantee the security of the expressway. He further called for keeping ambulances, a fire brigade, and immediate arrangements for Rescue 1122 services to address emergencies effectively.
