The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Defence has made a consensus on the establishment of child courts through the approved bill.
The bill presented by Syeda Nausheen Iftikhar, PML-N Member of the National Assembly, will amend criminal laws regarding the establishment of courts exclusively meant for child victims of rape.

According to Syeda Nausheen, magistrates will take the statements of the victims in a child-friendly atmosphere under the supervision of a psychiatrist. These child courts would also be obliged to resolve any case of rape within six months.
Earlier, Jam Aslam, a member of the Standing Committee, opposed such a bill, but it finally passed for the sake of ensuring unanimity.
